YTL Cement Shares Expertise at PAM Seminar on Off-form Concrete

On 23 August 2025, YTL Cement Group took part in the “Art & Craft of Off-form Concrete” seminar organised by Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) at Dewan President, PAM Centre. The event attracted nearly 200 participants – architects, consultants and contractors – all eager to exchange insights on how off-form concrete can balance design aspirations, engineering demands, material innovation, and on-site execution.

What made the seminar exceptional was the breadth of perspectives. An architect spoke on design intent and aesthetics, a consulting engineer shared practical challenges, a materials expert highlighted innovations to achieve refined finishes, and a contractor discussed execution on the ground. Together, they offered a rare, end-to-end view of how off-form concrete is conceived, specified, and built.

The session opened with remarks by Ar. Edric Choo before moving into a series of technical presentations. Hew Wai Hong, Partner at GDP Architects, presented a case study on the GDP Campus project, illustrating how design precision, coordination, and material choice enabled a refined fair-faced concrete finish.

Ir. Ng Pek Har followed with an engineering perspective, drawing from her extensive experience in delivering fair-faced concrete for high-rise buildings. She candidly addressed the construction hurdles and innovative solutions required to maintain consistent quality.
