The Penyu Shell-Ter Project Raises RM1,000,000 for Turtle Conservation

26 November 2025

The Penyu Shell-Ter Project came to a meaningful close at the Mayang Sari Ballroom, JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur, where YTL Cement hosted its charity auction dinner celebrating art, creativity, and conservation. The evening brought together artists, partners, conservation advocates, and guests in support of Malaysia’s endangered turtle populations.

The auction, held both in person and online, successfully collected RM1,000,000 in proceeds, which will be donated to the Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia (TCS) and PULIHARA to support their conservation work and public education efforts.

At the centre of the evening was the live auction of 20 turtle sculptures, painted by some of Malaysia’s most celebrated artists and public figures. Each sculpture was handcrafted at YTL Cement’s CDL Academy using ECOCem®, the Group’s low-carbon sustainable cement.

Led by renowned auctioneer Ian McGinlay, the auction drew enthusiastic bidding and vibrant energy from the room. The remaining 50 sculptures, offered on the online platform, also closed that evening with strong nationwide participation.
