SustainBuild Mark Launched at BuildXpo 2025

The SustainBuild Mark was officially launched during the International Construction Week (ICW) 2025, marking a significant milestone in Malaysia’s journey toward sustainable construction. Developed by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia through its research arm, the Construction Research Institute of Malaysia (CREAM), the SustainBuild Mark is part of an initiative under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between YTL Cement and CREAM in 2023. This collaboration aims to advance the adoption of sustainable construction practices across the industry, in line with the third pillar of the MoU - supporting the construction sector’s transition toward more sustainable, low-carbon solutions.

YTL Cement is proud to be among the first in Malaysia to receive the SustainBuild Mark certification, awarded to several of its products - Castle, Walcrete, Concrete (ECOConcrete™), and QuickMix® Solutions. The certificates were presented by CREAM to YTL Cement representatives - Mohan A/L Perumal, Deputy Director - Operations (Cement); Lambert Liew, Senior General Manager - Administration; and Lim Chee Kiong, Deputy Director - Operations (Drymix).

The Deputy Minister of Works, YB Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad bin Maslan, officiated the launch of the SustainBuild Mark during his visit to the CREAM booth, followed by a photo session with the pilot participants of the certification.

This comprehensive eco-product certification evaluates Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance in alignment with the ISO 14025 standard. It standardises sustainable product certification criteria across multiple product categories and promotes the wider adoption of responsible ESG practices within the construction sector.

YTL Cement’s recognition under the SustainBuild Mark underscores its ongoing commitment to driving sustainable innovation and environmental responsibility - building responsibly today for a greener and more resilient tomorrow.

As part of its continuous support for CIDB, YTL Cement also set up a booth during BuildXpo 2025 from 28 to 30 October 2025. The company showcased its end-to-end construction solutions, providing opportunities to engage with industry professionals and partners, and reinforcing its leadership in sustainable and innovative building materials.
