JKR Sabah Visits New QuickMix® Plant in Rawang

On 13 September 2025, YTL Cement welcomed a delegation from Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) Sabah to the QuickMix® Plant in Rawang for a first look at the fully automated facility - currently in its testing phase and Wisma YTL Cement in Petaling Jaya. The visit brought together 50 representatives, including the Director of JKR Sabah, senior officers, architects, quantity surveyors, contractors, and members of the Building and Maintenance Section. It was an opportunity to strengthen ties and build recognition for QuickMix® as a trusted solution for future projects in Sabah.

At Rawang, the delegation toured the QuickMix® Plant, where they learned how automated systems improve efficiency, reduce wastage and ensure consistent product quality. Sustainability was also highlighted, with investments in solar panels, EV forklifts and eco-friendly materials supporting the transition to greener construction.

The programme continued at Wisma YTL Cement, where participants were introduced to the CDL Academy and toured the laboratories. Experts demonstrated product testing and introduced sustainable innovations including ECOCem™, ECODrymix™, and ECOConcrete™. The group also attended a session on QuickMix® Perfect Wall & Floor Solutions, which explained the advantages of premixed products over traditional site mixes and showcased solutions to common application issues.

Delegates then took part in live product demonstrations, testing the ease of use and consistent quality of QuickRender-S1 (387-S1) for bricklaying and plastering, and LiquidRender 2000 (C) & LiquidRender 2000 (F) as skim coat solutions for internal and external applications.

The visit concluded with remarks from Datuk Ir. Philemon Lajawai, Director of JKR Sabah, who stressed the importance of government-industry collaboration to raise construction standards. Lim Chee Kiong, Deputy Director of the Drymix Division, reinforced this message, calling for a shift from site-mix to premixed solutions and expressing hope for continued partnership with JKR Sabah.
