ECO Excellence Series: Binastra Trion Integrates Sustainability into Urban Development

The latest feature in the ECO Excellence Series highlights Binastra Trion @ KL, a vibrant integrated development located at the intersection of Jalan Sungai Besi and Jalan Dua in Kuala Lumpur. Developed by Binastra Land and constructed by Binastra Ablebuild, the project demonstrates how sustainable design and green construction practices can transform and revitalise urban spaces.
Spanning two phases, Trion 1 and Trion 2, the development features a mix of serviced apartments, hotel towers, and retail spaces. Designed by ARCHIMATRIX Architects, the project has received GBI certification and was built using the Industrialised Building System (IBS), enhancing construction efficiency while reducing labour dependency.
From the outset, Binastra Trion was planned with sustainability at its core. Energy-efficient glass, sun-shading elements, water-saving fittings, and LED lighting are used throughout the project, alongside automated waste collection systems and rooftop rainwater harvesting. The development also includes over one acre of open green space across multiple levels, offering residents access to landscaped parks, sky gardens and rooftop amenities.
To support its green targets, the project incorporated ECOConcrete™ from YTL Cement, a low-carbon concrete designed for durability and efficiency. This material helped reduce construction waste and rework, while maintaining consistent strength and performance. YTL Cement also provided technical support, from tailored mix designs to on-site collaboration, ensuring smooth implementation and compliance with green building standards.
The success of Binastra Trion @ KL proves that sustainable buildings can deliver both environmental impact and commercial viability. It sets a compelling example for the wider industry to adopt greener practices as standard in future urban development.
